In education, my primary research areas have included the history of student life in U.S. public higher education and the history of co-curricular education of immigrant, international, and refugee students in the U.S.
In history, my primary research area has included early twentieth century U.S. immigration history, with an emphasis on metropolitan Chicago.
In library science, my primary research areas have included bibliography, instruction, outreach, and reference, in special collections, with an emphasis on archives and manuscript collections.
My broader interests have included culture theory, environmentalism, Illinois history, immigration to Illinois histories, and public higher education in Illinois.
