Work History

Asian American Cultural Center, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

At the AACC, as a graduate student intern, I learned about the administration, advancement, operations, and student development programs of a prominent Asian, Pacific Islander, Desi American and Asian International student serving office. After State of Illinois pandemic quarantine restrictions required remote work, I designed and I implemented a digitization project for institutional publications for remote research work. I would also research biographies for multiple prominent community members' future memorial tributes.

Paleontological Society Archives, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

At the PSA, I arranged, described, and filed the historic records of the Paleontological Society.

At the ATOA, I arranged, filed, and researched the historic records of the national fraternity Alpha Tau Omega for headquarters office administrative research.

The Idea Store, Urbana, Illinois

During winter 2016-2017, I volunteered to learn about administration and operations of a leading ecological, educational, and artistic, creative-reuse marketplace in central Illinois. Each week, for one weekend shift, I sorted items for sale, organized storage shelf inventory, and received donations.

Balzekas Museum of Lithuanian Culture, Chicago

At the BMLC, as an undergraduate intern, I began as a library page while I self-taught myself elementary Lithuanian. Over time, after completing Lithuanian studies coursework as an undergraduate at UIC, I transitioned to giving exhibit tours and ushering at special events. Through this work, I was invited to be a narrator for a temporary exhibit on Lithuanian deportation history Hope and Spirit and I was a voice actor for the later documentary.

At the UIC WC, as an undergraduate employee, I edited and tutored undergraduate and graduate student academic writing. With a cohort panel, I co-presented on inclusive tutoring practices at two tutoring conferences and at one state education conference.

At CLC Radio (now Lancer Radio), as an undergraduate employee, I supervised development of student on-air and pre-recorded promotions of student internet radio shows.

At Big Lots, through successive promotions, I began stocking shelves part-time and I ended as a full-time hourly manager. I co-supervised the closing of the Lake Zurich store location, and I worked in interim at the Round Lake store for one season too.

Student Activities Funding Committee

In the SAFC, I oversaw weekly meetings of registered student organization proposals for one-time grants to fund on-campus events with University funds. Grant funding caps were set at $7,000 for a single event and $14,000 for a series of events. Per applicant, the grant application process included pre-meetings, funding request submissions, presentations and hearings of funding requests, and the process of payments.

Anthropology Club

In Anthropology Club, I organized monthly meetings and off campus tours of cultural institutions for students interested in Anthropology career exploration meetings at host institutions across Chicago. Some sites included the Field Museum, the Lincoln Park Zoo, and the University of Illinois at Chicago Department of Special Collections.
